The Work
Most septic jobs in western NC involve multiple contractors — one for the perc test, one for the design, one for the installation, and another for the site grading around it. Every handoff costs time and money and introduces room for things to go sideways.
Land Grade Solutions is licensed for septic system installation in North Carolina. We do the perc testing, the excavation, the system installation, and the final grading and restoration — start to finish, one crew, one point of contact. If you're building a home, we're already clearing your lot and grading your building pad. Adding the septic system to that scope is the most efficient way to get it done.
Site evaluation and percolation testing to determine soil suitability. Starting at $500/hole.
Licensed installation of conventional and alternative septic systems across all soil types.
Proper drain field layout, excavation, and installation to NC code for long-term system performance.
Pump station installation for sites where gravity-fed systems aren't feasible.
Diagnosis and repair of failing or failed septic systems — we find the problem and fix it right.
Final grading and restoration of the area after installation so your property looks right.
A percolation test — perc test — determines how quickly your soil absorbs water, which tells us what kind of septic system your lot can support and where it needs to go. In NC, a perc test is required before any septic system can be permitted and installed.
If you're buying land, building a home, or dealing with a failed system, the perc test is step one. We schedule quickly, work with your county health department on the required permits, and give you a straight answer about what your site can support.

Local Knowledge
Septic system performance is entirely dependent on soil type, slope, and water table — factors that vary dramatically across western NC and the Piedmont. What works on a flat piedmont lot in Catawba County won't work on a steep clay hillside in Caldwell. We've been working this ground long enough to know the difference before we ever dig a perc hole.
Most rural lots in Caldwell County are not on municipal sewer — septic is the only option for new builds
Growing residential development outside Morganton drives consistent demand for new septic installations
Mountain terrain and high water tables make proper site evaluation critical before installation
Remote highland lots require careful perc testing — soil conditions vary significantly across short distances
Rural properties along river bottoms and ridge lines both require site-specific septic design
Older piedmont properties with failing systems need replacement contractors who know local soil conditions
Granite shelf and clay subsoil in Alexander County require experienced evaluation before any installation
Fast-growing residential market with consistent demand for new septic systems on wooded and rural lots
Mountain and foothill counties — Caldwell, Burke, Watauga, Ashe, and Wilkes — have the highest demand for septic work simply because municipal sewer service doesn't extend to most rural and wooded lots. If you're building outside of town in these counties, you need septic. We've installed systems across all of them and we know what the county health departments require at each step.

Caldwell County, NC
A Recent Job
A family in Caldwell County had purchased a four-acre wooded lot and was ready to break ground on their home. The lot had never been built on and had no existing septic infrastructure. Before a single foundation form could go in, they needed a perc test, a permitted system design, and a licensed installation contractor.
We were already on site clearing and rough grading the lot. We performed the perc testing, coordinated with the Caldwell County Health Department on permitting, and installed a conventional gravity-fed system suited to the soil profile we found during testing. The drain field was positioned to work with the natural slope of the lot rather than against it — which keeps the system performing correctly for decades.
The grading crew finished the building pad the same week the septic system was inspected and approved. The family broke ground on their home right on schedule. That's the advantage of having one crew handle the whole site.
